2011-04-28 - Atlanta Lightning : Shot from inside which means there is visible rain on the glass. Oh well. It was better than going outside and that really sunk in after a bolt struck very close, possibly on our building, of which I'm tens of feet from the roof. I was not going out there! Shot with a 5D Mark II mated to a 16-35mm f/2.8L, an AEO Lightning Strike trigger or intervalometer depending on the situation and at a lot of different settings.

2011-04-05 - Atlanta Lightning : Pictures of the big storm that came in on Monday night from the Viewpoint Condos in Midtown Atlanta. These were taken from around 11PM to 2AM on a Canon 5D Mark II, 16-35mm f/2.8L lens at 18mm, f/11 around 3.2-8s exposures. They aren't composed well and were pulled away to reduce reflections, but hey, I was tired and didn't want to venture out on the balcony 500 feet up in 70mph ground winds! Not this time at least... UPDATE on 4/7/2011: Apparently I had video of the event and didn't even realize it until tonight. See http://wojo.com/blog/2011/4/7/atlanta-lightning-on-april-4th-plus-video.html for details on how. PCIe 16x to 8x Modification : My workstation has one 16x and one 8x PCIe slot and my primary video card handles two of my monitors (20" 4:3 and 24" 6:11 LCDs), leaving one 20" 4:3 LCD on an old Matrox G450 PCI card on an analog connection. Not only was it analog, but it was SLOW (some sort of driver/chipset conflict). So I took a ATI X300 and ground off the edge connectors to make it an 8x card and it works great!
